I’ve always likes this three year old gelding for Mark Glatt, who has yet to break his maiden in four trips to the post. That 4th attempt came in the finale on Sunday, a maiden special weight event at 9 furlongs on the turf, 3 and up. Glatt took the blinkers off this son of Liam’s Map on this day as he has been trouble prone in all three of his previous trips to the post. Off at 12/1 in a field of 10, he finally got the clean trip he needed under Diego Herrera and he almost got the job done, losing a heartbreaker right on the wire by a head bob. He doesn’t have any early speed which makes him ideal for this turf course going long, but when he avoids traffic trouble, he has that nice turn of foot in the lane to win races. Sunday’s race was just too long for him as these types of horses are better at a flat mile than the 9 furlongs he got on Sunday. That’s because the early fractions are almost always quicker at the mile. He still came from well off the pace Sunday, got the dream trip splitting horses at the 1/8 pole, and lost a tough bob right at the wire. He should get one more chance before this meet ends and I think he’ll get the job done, hopefully at 8 furlongs rather than 9.

Generally horses that are on the Horses To Watch list ran into unexpected trouble, bad luck, and/or didn’t run the race we believe Rostovsky was cabable of. We expected that if Rostovsky gets a good trip in their next start than we should see an improvement in Rostovsky performance figures. Use the performance figures earned in Rostovsky last race (listed above) and compare them to the field and pars of Rostovsky next start. If Rostovsky appears to have earned higher performance figures in the last race when running into trouble as compared to the rest of the field’s expected perfomance in the upcoming race than there is a good chance that Rostovsky will dominate the race.
