Resolve: Dug In Gamely And Didn’t Give Up The Fight Till 1/16 Pole

Two year old filly for Len Powell tried the Blue Norther stakes at a mile on the turf Saturday. Off at 4/1 in a field of 8, she broke ok and then for some unknown reason, Dettori rode her hard to make the lead from the outside, which she did. She came out of the clubhouse turn with a suicide 1st quarter in 22.21 and had a 3 length lead. She went through the half at 45.77 and still had the lead, but the winner corralled her at the 3/8 pole. She dug in gamely and didn’t give up the fight till the 1/16 pole, but the damage had been done with those quick early fractions. She finished fifth beaten about five at the wire. She’s a nice filly and still has the first allowance condition available. Powell will find a good spot for her and next time she will be covered up, where she does her best running. Look for a rider change as well.

Generally horses that are on the Horses To Watch list ran into unexpected trouble, bad luck, and/or didn’t run the race we believe Resolve was cabable of.  We expected that if Resolve gets a good trip in their next start than we should see an improvement in Resolve performance figures.  Use the performance figures earned in Resolve last race (listed above) and compare them to the field and pars of Resolve next start.  If Resolve appears to have earned higher performance figures in the last race when running into trouble  as compared to the rest of the field’s expected perfomance in the upcoming race than there is a good chance that Resolve will dominate the race.
