Six year old gelding for John Shirreffs, who had been off for 15 months, surfaced on Saturday in a $40,000 claimer for older runners at ¾ on the main. Off at 5/1 in a field of 7, he came out running under Rispoli and showed much more speed than he had in the past. He set good fractions from the inside with the favorite lapped on him, but he put him away turning for home and widened down the lane to win going away by four at the wire. He trained well coming into the race, got gelded in his time off, and still has his 2nd allowance condition available. He was claimed out of the race by Jeff Mullins and he can run short or long, turf or dirt, and is lightly raced for a six year old. This may turn out to be a very good claim.

Generally horses that are on the Horses To Watch list ran into unexpected trouble, bad luck, and/or didn’t run the race we believe Red Flag was cabable of. We expected that if Red Flag gets a good trip in their next start than we should see an improvement in Red Flag performance figures. Use the performance figures earned in Red Flag last race (listed above) and compare them to the field and pars of Red Flag next start. If Red Flag appears to have earned higher performance figures in the last race when running into trouble as compared to the rest of the field’s expected perfomance in the upcoming race than there is a good chance that Red Flag will dominate the race.
Helpful Tip: So that it’s easy for you to compare a horse’s past performance, Today’s Racing Digest’s Performance Figures for upcoming races are based on how we expect the horse to perform in that race regardless of any changes in race conditions. Learn More:
