Reckless Spirit: Never Stopped Trying and Ran Huge

Another D’Amato veteran here, a six year old gelding off since November, and recently transferred into this barn, faced 7 in a 1st allowance condition at a mile on the grass Saturday. Off at 11/1, he broke well under Dettori and sat 4th into the clubhouse turn just 3 back of the leaders. The jock kept him on the fence down the back side, went after the leaders on his own at the ¼ pole, was set down in the stretch and rallied just a tad too late and was beaten ¾ at the wire. The winner had a dream trip sneaking through on the rail, but Spirit never stopped trying and ran huge. He’s good enough to knock out this condition and look for the top turf trainer on this circuit to find the right spot for him in the near future. Tab and follow.

Generally horses that are on the Horses To Watch list ran into unexpected trouble, bad luck, and/or didn’t run the race we believe Reckless Spirit was cabable of.  We expected that if Reckless Spirit gets a good trip in their next start than we should see an improvement in Reckless Spirit performance figures.  Use the performance figures earned in Reckless Spirit last race (listed above) and compare them to the field and pars of Reckless Spirit next start.  If Reckless Spirit appears to have earned higher performance figures in the last race when running into trouble  as compared to the rest of the field’s expected perfomance in the upcoming race than there is a good chance that Reckless Spirit will dominate the race.
