Queen of Naples: Good Debut For Daughter of Hard Spun

Four year old filly for Mike McCarthy made her debut on Saturday in a maiden special weight at ¾ on the main, 3 and up. Off at 9/1 in a field of six, she broke OK but didn’t have much speed and was fifth in the early going. She started to rally on the outside at the 3/8 pole, got within a length of the heavy Baffert favorite at the top of the stretch, but couldn’t stay with her down the lane, settled for 2nd beaten three and a half at the wire. It was a good debut for the daughter of Hard Spun and she had been training very well for her debut. She has talent and looks to be a soon winner for a very strong barn who is having a fine meet.
