Queen Maxima: Won by Five at the Wire and That’s a Big Deal Here Upcoming Race: Santa Anita February 22, 2025

Four year old filly for Jeff Mullins tried the 2nd allowance condition on Thursday coming down the hill for older runners, fillies and mares. Off as the heavy 2 to 5 favorite in a field of 7, she was up much closer to the pace than normal under Juan Hernandez. She broke running and was just one length back of her stable mate coming down the hill, went to the lead on her own at the dirt crossover, and then powered away in the stretch to win by five at the wire. This was just her sixth career start and she has won half of them. When a horse wins by five on the turf, that’s a big deal, and this Florida bred daughter of Bucchero is ready for stakes assignments.
