Pure Madness: Overlooked at Window While Exploding Late To Win by Three

Three year old colt for Brian Koriner made his debut on Saturday at six and a half on the turf in a maiden special weight event for 3 and up. Off at 17/1 in a field of 8, he settled in down the back side well off the pace about 7 lengths back of the leaders. He started his run at the ¼ pole under Baze and when the race fell apart up front, he had that quick turn of foot that comes from his sire on the grass, and he exploded late to win by three going away at the wire. His pedigree was totally ignored in the wagering as he is bred to win early and dearly loves the lawn. He is a Cal bred to boot and beat “open” company with ease in his debut, leaving Koriner with a ton of options for his next start down at Del Mar.
