Precocious Times: Can Win At This Level With Clean Trip

Four year old filly for John Sadler had a pretty rough trip in Saturday’s finale, a mile turf starter allowance race for non winners twice. Off at 5/1 in a field of 11, she relaxed nicely for Berrios down the back side and was 8 back of the leaders and about mid pack. She started to rally at the ¼ pole, stayed inside at the top of the lane, but couldn’t find a seam to get through. She checked at the 1/8 pole when it looked like there was a hole, and then again at the 1/16, but each time the hole closed as she entered. She finished third beaten 3 at the wire, but was moved up to 2nd due to a DQ on the horse that shut her off twice. I’m not sure if she would have beaten the winner with a clear trip, but she would have made it awfully close. She is obviously good enough to knock out this condition and she will get another chance before the end of this meet. She just needs a clean trip to get it done.
