Navajo Warrior: Stopped Twice, Shuffled Back And Went On To Win

Three year old Candy Ride gelding tried a mile on the main track in a maiden claimer in the opener on Thursday. Off as the 8/5 choice in a field of six, he broke alertly under the apprentice Carmona and dueled into the clubhouse turn. He did have to check on the fence coming out of the 1st turn when the leader came over on him and he got shuffled back to fourth at one point. Carmona got him going again and once again he had to check at the 3/8 pole when the leader once again came over on him. Carmona then swung him to the outside and he was back fighting for the lead at the 1/8 pole, and finally wore down a 7/1 shot who had a perfect trip all the way. You just don’t see horses at this level get stopped twice, get shuffled back in the pack, and yet still come on again and win. They paid $125K for him at Keeneland so this sophomore has plenty of upside. Up the ladder. Tim Yakteen is the trainer.

Generally horses that are on the Horses To Watch list ran into unexpected trouble, bad luck, and/or didn’t run the race we believe Navajo Warrior was cabable of.  We expected that if Navajo Warrior gets a good trip in their next start than we should see an improvement in Navajo Warrior performance figures.  Use the performance figures earned in Navajo Warrior last race (listed above) and compare them to the field and pars of Navajo Warrior next start.  If Navajo Warrior appears to have earned higher performance figures in the last race when running into trouble  as compared to the rest of the field’s expected perfomance in the upcoming race than there is a good chance that Navajo Warrior will dominate the race.
