Miss Roberts (GB): Bad Start and Trouble in Lane Was Still Best Here Upcoming Race: Santa Anita February 22, 2025

Four year old filly now in the Jeff Mullins barn after shipping in from Woodbine was in for the 1st allowance condition at six and a half down the hill on Saturday. Off at 7/2 with a lot of late tote action, she got away poorly and quickly was 14 lengths back of the leader halfway down the hill. Berrios got her running just before the dirt crossover, dove over toward the rail looking for room in this full field of 12, had to check twice while trying to force her way through an opening, then finished with a rush to get second beaten just ¾ at the wire. She had not been to the post since mid October and between the bad start and the trouble in the lane, she was best today. This is a huge barn switch going from James Begg in Canada to Mullins, who is one of the top conditioners on this circuit. She is turf only but can win going long or short, and Mullins will get the win for her at this level.
