Mirahmadi: Expect to Get Diploma in Next Race

Three year old colt for Bob Baffert ran too good to lose on opening day but lose he did, for the sixth consecutive race. But in all fairness, 3 of those races were not maiden events. Sent off as the 7/5 choice in a field of 9 runners, he broke running under J.J. but couldn’t keep up with a 30/1 shot, and they ran fast early through fractions of 21.95 and 44.50 in this maiden special weight event at ¾ on the main. At the top of the lane, they were five in front of the field and though Mirahmadi made a couple of runs at the leader, he never did get by and was beaten ¾ on the wire. It was six back to the third horse. This son of Into Mischief is Grade 1 placed as a juvenile and he will get his diploma in his next race.
