Lovesick Blues: Soon a Winner for a Barn That Knows Where To Place Their Stock

Five year old gelding for Steve Miyadi, who had sprinted in his previous six races, stretched out to a mile in Saturday’s finale and was protected in this starter handicap race at a mile on the turf for older runners. Off at 10/1 in a field of 9, he sat a comfortable third down the back side four lengths off the pace. He made his move at the ¼ pole under Gutierrez and got within a length of the lead, but was no match for the favorite who easily wired the field. He was beaten four at the wire but it was another three back to the third horse. All in all, it was a strong performance. He still has the first allowance condition available, plus he’s a Cal bred who can run short or long, so Miyadi has plenty of options available. He’s a soon winner for a barn that knows where to place their stock.
