Logan’s Red Falcon: Fine Debut for Son of Practical Joke Who is Bred To Win Early

Four year old gelding for Mike McCarthy made his debut on Saturday in a maiden special weight at ¾ on the lawn on a course rated as good. Off at 5/1 in a field of 7, he was bumped at the start to be away a bit awkward, then was hustled up to contend for the lead under Johnny V. He stuck his nose in front at the top of the lane, then battled gamely down on the inside the entire stretch before yielding the last 70 yards. He was beaten two at the wire by a late runner but battled gamely to hold second. All in all, it was a fine debut for this son of Practical Joke who is bred to win early in his career. He worked well coming into the race and this barn is good with 2nd time starters, so give him a good look over in start #2.
