Kuchar: A Victim of “Ortiz Drift” Can Improve In Next Start

Comebacker was a victim of the “Ortiz drift” in the stretch and this may have cost him the race. There was clear sailing in between horses, before Ortiz drifted out causing Kuchar to steady a bit in midstretch. The jock was going to go in between horses once again, but the gap closed and he had to switch to the outside. Once he was clear, he found his best stride with another closer to his outside and he fell just short at the wire in a blanket finish.
