Three year old colt for John Sadler tried the turf for the 1st time in his 4 race career on Sunday and handled it just fine. Off at 2/1 in a field of 8 with J.J. in the irons in this 1st allowance condition for three year olds at ¾ on the lawn, he broke well and attended the early pace. The pace was pretty hot with fractions of 21.82 and 44.27 for the half, but this colt put the other speed away at the top of the lane and dug in gamely down the stretch. He got caught right at the wire by a perfect tripper who got through on the inside and lost by a neck. He ran too good to lose today and he’ll knock out this condition, especially of J.J. rides him back. He’s a very game runner and being a Cal bred to boot leaves him with many options.

Generally horses that are on the Horses To Watch list ran into unexpected trouble, bad luck, and/or didn’t run the race we believe Known Idea was cabable of. We expected that if Known Idea gets a good trip in their next start than we should see an improvement in Known Idea performance figures. Use the performance figures earned in Known Idea last race (listed above) and compare them to the field and pars of Known Idea next start. If Known Idea appears to have earned higher performance figures in the last race when running into trouble as compared to the rest of the field’s expected perfomance in the upcoming race than there is a good chance that Known Idea will dominate the race.
