Just Nails: Looked Like A Solid Winner In Deep Stretch | Upcoming Race:Santa Anita May 5, 2024

Five year old mare for Doug O’Neill tried the first allowance condition on Saturday down the hill for older runners that are fillies and mares. Off at 4/1 and bet down from a 12/1 line and getting a ton of late money, she broke running under Berrios and dueled for the lead down the hill with another one laying on her from the outside. She put the other speed away at the top of the lane, dug in gamely while drifting out a bit, and just missed at the wire by a neck. Her drifting out a bit in the lane let the winner through on the inside and got her beat. She took off the blinkers today and this may have helped her relax a bit. Her next start will be her third off a 5 month layoff and she is sitting on a victory at this condition. Six or six and a half out of the chute wouldn’t her either as her speed would hold better on the straight away.
