Happyasaclam (IRE): Watch For Her In Opening Week At Santa Anita

Three year old filly for Simon Callaghan made her third start off a layoff in Saturday’s opener, a mile on the turf for maiden claimers with a tag of $50K. Off at 10/1 in a field of 7, she broke well from the rail slot under Diego Herrera, but then was quickly covered up and was fifth into the clubhouse turn, just four back of the leaders. The boy kept her on the fence down the back side, swung her to the outside at the ¼ pole and made a big move into the lane, and fought gamely down the stretch to lose by a neck at the wire. She ran a winning race and won’t be a maiden much longer for a strong barn. Watch for her on the opening week of the Santa Anita winter season.
