Two year old colt for Val Brinkerhoff ran a much improved race in start #2 on Sunday when he dueled for the lead from the rail post in this 6 furlong dash on the main for Cal bred maiden special weights. Off at 8/1 in a field of 9, He took the worst of it dueling on the inside, put the other speed away at the ¼ pole, dug in gamely when challenged by the even money favorite at the 1/8 pole, and just failed to last losing by a long neck at the wire. It was 7 lengths back to the third horse as “Got’m” ran a winning race all the way under Kyle Frey. This son of the good sire Bolt d’Oro is a soon winner, especially if he doesn’t draw the rail in start #3.
