Five year old gelding for the red hot Peter Eurton barn tried a starter allowance race for non winners of three in Saturday’s opener, at 9 furlongs on the grass for older runners. Off at 3/1 under J.J. and bet down from a M/L of 5/1, he settled in nicely from the start and moved over to the fence just after the break. J.J. kept him on the rail the entire trip but tried to find a seam at the ¼ pole, as he was loaded with horse but had no room to run. The seam never developed so he stayed on the fence through the stretch and Herrera kept him bottled in until the 1/16 pole on the leader. “Eye” finally got through very late but the race was over. It was just good race riding by Herrera but Goldeneye was best today had he had a clear path. He got beat a length by the 6/1 shot at the wire. If J.J. rides this one back under these starter conditions, he will win, and he’s good anywhere from 8 to 9 furlongs on the grass.

Generally horses that are on the Horses To Watch list ran into unexpected trouble, bad luck, and/or didn’t run the race we believe Goldeneye was cabable of. We expected that if Goldeneye gets a good trip in their next start than we should see an improvement in Goldeneye performance figures. Use the performance figures earned in Goldeneye last race (listed above) and compare them to the field and pars of Goldeneye next start. If Goldeneye appears to have earned higher performance figures in the last race when running into trouble as compared to the rest of the field’s expected perfomance in the upcoming race than there is a good chance that Goldeneye will dominate the race.
Helpful Tip: So that it’s easy for you to compare a horse’s past performance, Today’s Racing Digest’s Performance Figures for upcoming races are based on how we expect the horse to perform in that race regardless of any changes in race conditions. Learn More:
