Freedom Lass: Moved Too Soon and Beat At Wire, Can Improve

Six year old mare for Phil D’Amato ran a winning race on Sunday in this 2nd allowance condition for older fillies and mares at 9 furlongs on the grass. Off at 9/1 in a field of 8, she broke running from the outside under Kyle Frey and settled in 3rd into the clubhouse turn. She was 8 back of the runaway leader down the back side, went after that leader at the 3/8 pole, was up a length and a half at the 1/8 pole, then wilted very late to be third, beaten just one at the wire. Frey moved her too soon at the 3/8 and it cost her the race. She can win this condition next out and D’Amato may switch riders to Hernandez or Rispoli.
