Dr. Schivel: One to Watch In Next at Del Mar

His Del Mar record is stellar. As a 2-year-old in 2020, he broke his maiden in August and won the Grade 1 Del Mar Futurity in September. In 2021, he captured the Grade 1 Bing Crosby and lost a heartbreaker by a nose as my top choice in the BC Sprint. He is training steadily at Santa Anita and is probably targeting the Bing Crosby on July 29.

Generally horses that are on the Horses To Watch list ran into unexpected trouble, bad luck, and/or didn’t run the race we believe Dr. Schivel was cabable of.  We expected that if Dr. Schivel gets a good trip in their next start than we should see an improvement in Dr. Schivel performance figures.  Use the performance figures earned in Dr. Schivel last race (listed above) and compare them to the field and pars of Dr. Schivel next start.  If Dr. Schivel appears to have earned higher performance figures in the last race when running into trouble  as compared to the rest of the field’s expected perfomance in the upcoming race than there is a good chance that Dr. Schivel will dominate the race.
