Two year old colt for Richard Mandella made his debut on Saturday in a maiden special weight at ¾ on the main. Off at 3/1 in a field of six and the 2nd choice in the wagering, he broke OK from the five hole but was pretty much void of any early speed and quickly fell six back of the odds on choice. Kimura got after him at the 3/8 pole and he started to move up but the leader was long gone. He did rally for second but was beaten by 8 in the quick time of 1:09.67, pretty fast for a two year old. Day and Age looks like a runner who wants two turns and it’s just a matter of time before this son of Omaha Beach is stretched out. Mandella may sprint him once more but either way, he’s a soon winner for the Spendthrift Farms in Kentucky.

Generally horses that are on the Horses To Watch list ran into unexpected trouble, bad luck, and/or didn’t run the race we believe Day and Age was cabable of. We expected that if Day and Age gets a good trip in their next start than we should see an improvement in Day and Age performance figures. Use the performance figures earned in Day and Age last race (listed above) and compare them to the field and pars of Day and Age next start. If Day and Age appears to have earned higher performance figures in the last race when running into trouble as compared to the rest of the field’s expected perfomance in the upcoming race than there is a good chance that Day and Age will dominate the race.
