Clements Ride: 7 Lengths Back at Half Mile Pole But Finished Strong For 3rd

Two year old colt for John Sadler made start #2 in the finale on Sunday at a mile on the turf in a Cal bred maiden special weight event. Off as the 2/1 choice in a field of 10, he hopped a bit at the start to be away slowly and was last going into the clubhouse turn. Berrios kept him on the fence and moved up to 7th by the half mile pole but was still 7 lengths back of the leaders. He got her off the fence at the top of the lane and finished strong down the lane and to gain third at the wire beaten a length and a half. It was a good race vs. the race shape as the two that finished ahead of him ran one – two the entire way around the track. This was also his 1st start going two turns. He is sitting on a victory for a top notch barn and Berrios will probably get the mount back. He’s a soon winner for start #3.
