Captivating Boy: Lost By 3 But Held Gamely with 3 Back to 3rd

Four year old gelding for Craig Dollase, who had not been to the post since July 20 at Ellis Park, was in for the 1st allowance condition on Saturday at ¾ on the main. Off at 25/1 in a field of 8, he came out running under Kyle Frey and set some pretty fast fractions of 21. 83 for the quarter and 44.06 for the half. He had 2 on the field at the 3/8 pole and still had the lead at the top of the lane, but when the odds on favorite came to him just before the 1/8 pole, he couldn’t hold him off. He lost by three at the wire but, he held gamely and it was another three back to the third horse. He has been 1st or 2nd now in 9 of 14 starts and he should be able to knock out this condition in the very near future for a barn that is having a terrific year.
