Cameron Slough: Ran Too Good To Lose But Got Nailed at Wire By Late Runner

Four year old filly for Neil Drysdale made start #2 in Sunday’s opener, but first since February of 2023. Off at 11/1 in a field of just six in this maiden claimer for older runners at a mile on the turf, she came out running under Maldonado and was 2nd into and out of the clubhouse turn, just a length off the leader. She stuck her head in front at the top of the lane, then opened up 2 just inside the sixteenth pole, then got nailed right on the wire by a late runner with a huge late kick. “Slough” ran too good to lose, and though she had a perfect trip, she will be a tad tighter for her next start. As long as Drysdale keeps her in for a tag, she’s a soon winner for this daughter of English Channel.
