Berlin Wall: Finished Strongly but Can Improve with Better Draw and Break

Three year old colt for Steve Knapp made his debut on New Year’s Day in a maiden special weight event for Cal Breds at five and a half on the main. Off at 7/2 and bet down from a M/L of 10/1 in a field of 8, he broke slowly from the rail slot, then was hard ridden by Pereira to get back in the race. The jock kept him on the fence until the top of the lane, then swung out for racing room and he finished strongly the final sixteenth to get third beaten only a length and a half for all the money. It was two and a half back to the 4th horse. With this race under his belt, a better draw next time, and breaking with the field should be enough to get this son of Practical Joke into the winners circle. He also bred to win early and may even get Lasix for start #2.

Generally horses that are on the Horses To Watch list ran into unexpected trouble, bad luck, and/or didn’t run the race we believe Berlin Wall was cabable of.  We expected that if Berlin Wall gets a good trip in their next start than we should see an improvement in Berlin Wall performance figures.  Use the performance figures earned in Berlin Wall last race (listed above) and compare them to the field and pars of Berlin Wall next start.  If Berlin Wall appears to have earned higher performance figures in the last race when running into trouble  as compared to the rest of the field’s expected perfomance in the upcoming race than there is a good chance that Berlin Wall will dominate the race.
