Andtheomofthebrave: Should be A Soon Winner For Pretty Cagey Barn

Three year old gelding for Steve Knapp, who he also owns by himself, made his debut on Saturday at ¾ on the turf for a claiming price of $50,000. Off at 10/1 in a field of 11 he was pretty much void of early speed and fell 10 lengths back of the leaders down the back side. Pereira moved him to the rail at the top of the lane and he started to pick off horses and ran gamely on the rail throughout the stretch run. He ended up third but was only beaten a length and a quarter at the wire and galloped out well. It was a nice debut for this son of Om out of a Square Eddie mare and he’s a Cal bred to boot and this was an “open” claiming race, so Knapp has plenty of options. He could raise this horse in with straight Cal bred maidens and not be facing a tougher group. He should be a soon winner for a pretty cagey barn.
