In this article, I will take a look at the latest Breeders’ Cup Classic news. The Grade 1, $7 million BC Classic will be run at Del Mar on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2024.

Breeders’ Cup Classic Pre-Entries: Arthur’s Ride, City of Troy, Derma Sotogake, Fierceness, Forever Young, Highland Falls, Mixto, Newgate, Next, Pyrenees, Rattle N Roll, Senor Buscador, Sierra Leone, Skippylongstocking, Tapit Trice, Ushba Tesoro.

Fierceness had his final BC Classic move on Oct. 25. He breezed a half-mile in 48.98 (8/24) on the training track at Saratoga (in company with Illuminare). He galloped out five panels in 1:02 and six furlongs in 1:15 and change in an easy maintenance move. The Grade 1 Travers hero been moving well with nice gallop outs.

Next breezed five furlongs in 1:01 flat (2/6) at Turfway Park on Oct. 24 and his connections confirmed that he will run in the BC Classic. He was also pre-entered in the BC Turf.

Senor Buscador worked 6f in 1:12 (1/1) at Del Mar Oct. 25. His fractions were 46 and change, and 58 and change for five panels. He has always been a good work horse and was getting tired near the end of his move.

Skippylongstocking drilled a half-mile bullet in 47.93 (1/24) on the dirt training track at Saratoga Oct. 25. He worked in company with The Queens MG and galloped out in 1:01 and change.

Daily Racing Form is reporting that National Treasure is out of the BC Dirt Mile, and after that news broke, trainer Saffie Joseph Jr. confirmed that Skippylongstocking will run in the Dirt Mile and Irad Ortiz Jr. will ride.

With Skippylongstocking confirmed for the Dirt Mile, Pyrenees draws into the BC Classic field and Brian Hernandez Jr. will ride.  Rattle N Roll is now the lone Classic also-eligible, and Ken McPeek’s charge is entered in the Grade 2 Fayette Stakes at Keeneland on Oct. 26.

Arthur’s Ride galloped at Del Mar Oct. 25. The likely Classic pacesetter will work this weekend for Bill Mott.

Mixto visited the Del Mar track Oct. 25. His last work was at Santa Anita Oct. 20 so he will probably work again over the weekend. He won the Grade 1 Pacific Classic at Del Mar over the summer.

The Japanese horses have arrived at Del Mar (Derma Sotogake, Forever Young, Ushba Tesoro). All three visited the Del Mar track Oct. 25.
