The 2023 BC Juvenile fillies features a 13-horse field and Tamara is the 4-5 morning line favorite. This article includes BC Juvenile Fillies video picks.
Tamara is the fastest horse in the paper race. She is 2-for-2 in sprint races for Richard Mandella. Her mother Beholder won this race for Mandella in 2012. Her rider Mike Smith has won the BC Juvenile Fillies three times and her aforementioned conditioner saddled the winner of this race three times.
If Tamara fails to run her best race, look for Todd Pletcher’s filly Candied to make a serious run from the inside post under Luis Saez. She captured her first two career starts including the Grade 1 Alcibiades at 1 1/6 miles at Keeneland in her last start. She is the second choice on the morning line.
Just F Y I is the other big name in this race for Bill Mott. The promising daughter of Justify also won both of her starts including the Grade 1 Frizette in the slop. She will have to overcome an outer post and figures to stalk while racing wide under Junior Alvarado.
Chatalas won the Chandelier Stakes at 1 1/6 miles at Santa Anita Park on Oct. 7. Mark Glatt’s Gun Runner filly wired the field in the Chandelier but is probably not quick enough to make the early lead in this race.
The BC Juvenile Fillies field also includes Jody’s Pride, maidens Scalable and Where’s My Ring, Omaha Girl, Espirit Enchante, multiple stakes winner Brightwork, Accommodating Eva, Life Talk, and Alys Beach.
The 2023 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies is a Kentucky Oaks 2024 points race, and it is the 6th race at Santa Anita Park on Friday, November 3, 2023.
