The 2024 Belmont Stakes will be run two weeks from today at Saratoga Race Course on Saturday, June 8, and the distance has been shortened to a mile and a quarter this year.
Belmont Park is the home of the final leg of the Triple Crown and it is traditionally run at a mile and a half. Due to ongoing construction at that venue, the Belmont Stakes Festival will be run at Saratoga in 2024 and 2025. Live racing is scheduled to return to Belmont Park in 2026.Â
Thirteen horses are possible for the Belmont Stakes as of May 25. Multiple contenders had morning breezes on Saturday including possible favorite Sierra Leone. His trainer Chad Brown also said that jockey Flavien Prat would replace Tyler Gaffalione.
