Girvin Gal: Throw This Race Out and Watch For Her In The Future

Four year old filly for Tim Yakteen made start #5 in Sunday’s opener at six and a half on the turf from the chute, in a maiden special weight for older fillies and mares. Off at 3/1 in a field of 7 and adding the blinkers for the first time, she broke well under Prat and vied for the lead early. Prat then took her back and she rated in third three off the leaders. Prat kept her on the fence turning for home, saw a seam on the rail and went for it, but the hole closed quickly and then she became boxed in from another horse on her outside. She went 3/16 of a mile down the lane with nowhere to run. She ended up fifth beaten two and a half at the wire. She deserved better. Throw this race out and watch for her in the future. She fits well with this group and Yakteen just recently got this filly from Eoin Harty.
