Modus Bestia: Came up Short Here But Will Get The Money Next Time Out

Three year old colt for Richard Baltas made his debut on Saturday in a maiden special weight event for sophomores at six and a half on the main. Off at 16/1 in a field of 7, he broke OK under Diego Herrera and sat 4th down the back side, three off the leaders. The jock got him going at the 3/8 pole, went to the outside and stuck his head in front at the ¼ pole, and then battled head and head with the favorite to the wire. He came up a half length short at the finish. It was a courageous performance in quick time. Baltas is 4% with debut runners but 15% with 2nd time starters. He will get the money next time out.

Generally horses that are on the Horses To Watch list ran into unexpected trouble, bad luck, and/or didn’t run the race we believe Modus Bestia was cabable of.  We expected that if Modus Bestia gets a good trip in their next start than we should see an improvement in Modus Bestia performance figures.  Use the performance figures earned in Modus Bestia last race (listed above) and compare them to the field and pars of Modus Bestia next start.  If Modus Bestia appears to have earned higher performance figures in the last race when running into trouble  as compared to the rest of the field’s expected perfomance in the upcoming race than there is a good chance that Modus Bestia will dominate the race.
