Hothead: Soon Winner For Barn Pushing All the Right Buttons

Three year old gelding for Mark Glatt, off since Nov. 3rd, tried the turf for the 1st time in his four race career on Saturday in a maiden special weight event at 3/4 for Cal breds. Off at 15/1 in a 9 horse field, he zipped right to the front under Ricky Gonzalez and opened up two down the back side. When the favorites came to him at the top of the lane, he dug in gamely and only missed by a head at the wire and was two clear of third. This was his first race with Lasix and they took the blinkers off. He will be a tad tighter in his next outing and he really took to the lawn. He’s a soon winner for a barn pushing all the right buttons this meet.

Generally horses that are on the Horses To Watch list ran into unexpected trouble, bad luck, and/or didn’t run the race we believe Hothead was cabable of.  We expected that if Hothead gets a good trip in their next start than we should see an improvement in Hothead performance figures.  Use the performance figures earned in Hothead last race (listed above) and compare them to the field and pars of Hothead next start.  If Hothead appears to have earned higher performance figures in the last race when running into trouble  as compared to the rest of the field’s expected perfomance in the upcoming race than there is a good chance that Hothead will dominate the race.

Helpful Tip:  So that it’s easy for you to compare a horse’s past performance, Today’s Racing Digest’s Performance Figures for upcoming races are based on how we expect the horse to perform in that race regardless of any changes in race conditions.  Learn More:
