Guiltyofhavingfun: Improved Dramatically Here and Soon Winner Going Short on the Turf

Two year old filly for Andy Mathis made start #2 on Friday in a maiden special weight event for Cal breds at 5/8 on the turf. Off at 6/1 in a field of 9, she broke running under Aguilar and sat third down the back side, just two lengths off the pace. She went after the leaders at the top of the lane, looked like a serious win threat at the 1/8 pole, but the favorite found another gear late and won by a length and a half. It was another three back to the third horse. This daughter of the good California sire Sir Prancealot, who was the sire of 5 of the 9 runners in the race, improved dramatically in her second start and she’s a soon winner going short on the lawn up at Arcadia. Andy Mathis is the lone Nor Cal trainer who can come south and win on a consistent basis.
