Royal Charter (GB): Good Tactical Speed With Decent Turn of Foot On Grass

Four year old filly for Len Powell was in for the 2nd allowance condition at a mile on the turf in Friday’s finale. Off at 9/2 in a field of 11, she broke well under Kimura and sat third on the fence into the clubhouse turn. Kimura kept her there throughout the race and saved all the ground, but when turning for home, he just needed somewhat of a seam to get though and one never developed until very late in the race. The jock waited patiently with plenty of horse, got an opening at the 1/16 pole, but then it quickly closed and the filly was bottled up again. She finished fourth beaten two at the wire by a late runner on the extreme outside and was only ¾ of a length from second. She may have been best today. Now she will have to wait for the winter meet at Santa Anita and she is good enough to knock out this condition. She has good tactical speed to go along with a decent turn of foot on the grass.
