Mysterious Husband: Best Today Looking To Break Maiden At Del Mar

Three year old gelding, re-claimed by Mark Glatt down at Del Mar in his last start, was in a straight maiden allowance race on Saturday and almost pulled off a stunner at 30/1. Sent 9 furlongs on the grass in a field of 7, he was bumped from both sides at the start and squeezed pretty good, but regrouped and sat third into the clubhouse turn. The favorite got away with an easy six length lead down the back side, but Fresu maintained his spot on the rail, started to move at the ¼ pole, and had plenty of horse turning for home. The leader started lugging out at the 1/8 pole and caused Fresu to alter course as well, yet he gamely battled on and lost by just a half at the wire. The stews should have at least put up the inquiry sign and taken a look at it, but it was Baffert with the winner and they didn’t even look at it. This gelding can break his maiden down at Del Mar in November and does have talent. He was best today.
