Breeders’ Futurity Analysis (Top 4 Selections)

#5 East Avenue (3-1) was the favorite in his dirt sprint bow at Ellis Park, and he controlled the pace through moderate splits and won by 8 lengths. He is bred to go this far and should be all over the pace.

#1 Ferocious (8-5) is a $1.3 million son of Flatter. He broke slow, stalked the pace from the inside post, and graduated by 7 lengths in the mud on Aug. 3. The show finisher from his bow was a next-out winner, and this colt stalked outside and missed by a half-length as the strong favorite in the Hopeful (G1) on Sept. 2. He drilled a five panel bullet for this on Sept. 28 and stretches out after two sprints.

#10 Dapper Moon (9-2) broke last and rallied for the place in his dirt sprint debut at Saratoga on July 20. He stalked wide at seven panels second time out and dominated that race by 5 lengths. He earned a much better number last time and might give the favorite a run for his money.

#4 Handsome Pants (10-1) rallied for the win at 10-1 odds in his dirt route debut at Churchill Downs on Sept. 14. Brian Hernandez Jr. sticks with Ken McPeek’s $140k Daredevil colt, and he might run faster second time out.
