Hope Road: Won In Hand By 8 With Some Nice Fillies Behind

Three year old filly for Bob Baffert tried the Grade 3 Torrey Pines stakes at a mile on the main Saturday and simply crushed the field. Off at 1 to 2 in a field of just six with two late scratches, she broke running under J.J. but the inside horse wanted the lead more so he just let her go. The internal fractions were hot in 21.70 and 45.31 but she stopped on a dime at the 3/8 pole and “Hope” simply inherited the lead. She opened up quickly by three at the top of the lane, four by the 1/8 pole, and won in hand by 8 at the wire with a few nice fillies behind her. This daughter of Quality Road is becoming a monster as this was her 3rd straight victory and all have been by at least five lengths.
