Oveta’s Hobby: Broke Slow on Rail With Nowhere to Go, Can Improve In Next Start

Two year old filly for John Sadler made her debut in Sunday’s 4th, a five furlong sprint on the main for maiden special weight juvenile fillies. Off at 22/1 in a field of 8 and drawing the dreaded rail, she broke slowly under Berrios and found herself five lengths back of the leaders rather quickly. The jock kept her on the fence and she looked loaded at the top of the lane but had nowhere to run. A seam did open just past the 1/16 pole but it was too late as the odds on favorite was long gone. She did get second and was beaten six at the wire. She is bred to win early and though she wouldn’t have beaten the Baffert favorite, she would have made it much closer with a cleaner start. She is bred to win early, her drills were solid, and she is a soon winner for a top barn that does well with two year olds.
