Sample Stakes Race Analysis & Picks (From the May 10 Edition)

Race 2 – Grade 2 Man o’ War Stakes – 1 3/8 Miles (Turf)

Race Analysis
This field is pace-light and grind-heavy. Far Bridge is the one with the class and style to thrive in a paceless setup. He’s 1-for-1 over this turf, owns the top CPR, and had a sneaky good return race on 3/29 when caught in a slow-paced, tightly bunched field. Capture the Flag is the wild card — wired a $200k stakes two back, and might get the stalking trip of the race. Anglophile is a late runner who always gives you a finish but needs every inch of this trip and a perfect setup.

Race 11 – Grade 3 Peter Pan Stakes – 1 1/8 Miles (Dirt)

Race Analysis
No early burners in this field, and Vassimo finally catches a setup where his grinding style and inside draw actually work in his favor. He was hung wide chasing a gold rail last out and still finished with interest. Surfside Moon has hit the board in two straight stakes tries over this track and trip. He keeps finishing well and fits this race like a glove. McAfee has the look of a longshot on the rise — improving figures, wide trips, and Dutrow’s barn firing.

Race 10 – Grade 2 Ruffian Stakes – 1 Mile (Dirt)

Race Analysis
Catherine Wheel keeps firing — three straight races with rising Final Time Ratings, and she owns the top CPR in the field. Chad’s filly fits this track and trip cold. My Mane Squeeze scratched out of a Grade 1 to wait for this spot. That’s a massive tell. She’s tactical and consistent. Takethemoneyhoney has wired allowance fields with ease and is still improving. If she clears, she’s live.

Race 7 – G3 John A. Nerud Stakes – 6 Furlongs (Dirt)

Race Analysis
Full Moon Madness gets the ideal trip setup. He can stalk behind the inside speed and finish strongest. Anarchist is a legit G2 winner who needed that last race off the shelf. O’Conner Sunset is the stretch-runner to toss into deeper exotics. Gets the HF20.
