Unrivaled Hero: Glatt’s Colt Heroically Battles Through Trouble; Maiden Win Just Around the Corner

Three year old colt for Mark Glatt made start #6 on Saturday in an attempt to break his maiden at 9 furlongs on the grass. Moving up in class from an $80,000 maiden claimer to straight maidens, he was off at 6/1 in a field of 8 under Hector Berrios. He laid 3rd down the back side hugging the fence just two back of the leader. Berrios found a seam at the top of the lane, surged through it, then had to check sharply when the leader came out at him at the 1/8 pole. “Hero” re – rallied but finished third missing by just a half at the wire and was nosed out of second. They did move him up to second after an inquiry and he was past the winner shortly after the wire. A mile may be his best distance but he is sitting on a win for the meet’s leading trainer. He should get the job done next time.
