Ultimate Gamble: $1.7 Million Colt with Bright Future

Three year old colt for Mark Glatt made start #2 on Saturday in a maiden special weight event at a flat mile on the main track, 3 and up. Off as the heavy 3/5 choice in a field of just five, he broke OK under Dettori and laid third down the back side, four off the pace. He went after the leaders on his own at the ¼ pole, assumed the lead at the top of the lane, and went on to win handily by two very professionally. They paid $1.7 million for this colt and he showed very little in his sprint debut. But he’s bred to go long and he looks like stakes material down the road. He will have no trouble with the first allowance condition, even if he’s up against older horses. This one appears to have a bright future but for $1.7 million, it is the “ultimate gamble”.
