Strate Cash: Baltas Unveils Exciting Turf Prospect; Colt Powers to Impressive Debut Victory Under Red-Hot Prat

Three year old colt for Richie Baltas, who had been working lights out down at San Luis Rey, made his debut on Sunday in a maiden special weight at ¾ on the turf for sophomores. Bet down late to the heavy favorite at 2 to 5 in a field of 7, he broke OK under Prat and sat 4 lengths back of the leaders down the back side relaxing nicely under a snug hold. The jock asked him for run at the top of the lane and he motored by the leaders easily and won by three and a half going away at the wire. Baltas doesn’t normally win with debut runners but this one is exceptional and appears to be quite a runner. Prat is now 7 for 8 with Baltas runners at this meet.
