Sarwar (FR): Good From 8-9 Furlongs While Strong In The Stretch

Four year old gelding for Len Powell made his 2nd start in this country on Saturday in a 1st allowance condition at 9 furlongs on the turf. Off at 9/2 under Hector Berrios in a field of just five, he was covered up early and was third into the clubhouse turn. He stayed in that position down the back side and the jock kept him on the rail, just three back of the leaders. Berrios swung him to the outside at the top of the lane and he was the only one in the field with a strong stretch run which fell just a half length short. The winner wired the field and lulled most of them to sleep through dawdling fractions of 49.91 for the half and 1:14.27 for three quarters. His next start will be his third off a long layoff and his turf races in France were all quite good. He’s good anywhere from 8 to 9 furlongs and Powell is good with these types of horses.
