Santo Dios (ARG): May Have Been Best But Blocked Throughout

Six year old full horse for Marcelo Polanco tried the hill for the 1st time on Saturday in this 1st allowance condition for older horses. Off at 8/1 in a field of 9, he broke last from the rail under Laprida and was well back early. The jock moved him up from the inside and he was only 3 back of the leaders halfway down the hill. Turning for home, the boy kept him on the fence, hoping for a seam to get through, but one never developed and he was pretty much blocked the entire length of the stretch. He had horse but nowhere to go. He finished 4th and was beaten a length and a half at the wire and may very well have been best. Polanco is a 4% trainer, so he doesn’t win very often, but this horse has talent, and if he can get a better post next time, he can win this condition. With his connections, he’s always going to offer value from a wagering standpoint.
