Richi (CHI): Filly Will Do Best Around Two Turns After Winning by 10 lengths at 10 Furlongs

Four year old filly for Bob Baffert, who had not raced since December of last year down in Chili, made her U.S. debut on Sunday in the Desert Stormer stakes at ¾ on the main for older fillies and mares. Coming off a good series of drills and going off at 5/2 in a field of six, she broke running under J.J. and contested the early lead from the outside through fractions of 22.17 and 44.39 for the half. She hung in there gamely in the drive but couldn’t withstand the late run from Chismosa who is grade 2 stakes placed. She got beat a length and a quarter at the wire in the good time of 1:09.70 over somewhat of a dull surface. This filly will do her best around two turns, as she won by 10 lengths going 10 furlongs down in Chili and this was a good prep for her summer campaign. Look for Baffert to find a winning spot for her at Del Mar.

Generally horses that are on the Horses To Watch list ran into unexpected trouble, bad luck, and/or didn’t run the race we believe Richi (CHI) was cabable of.  We expected that if Richi (CHI) gets a good trip in their next start than we should see an improvement in Richi (CHI) performance figures.  Use the performance figures earned in Richi (CHI) last race (listed above) and compare them to the field and pars of Richi (CHI) next start.  If Richi (CHI) appears to have earned higher performance figures in the last race when running into trouble  as compared to the rest of the field’s expected perfomance in the upcoming race than there is a good chance that Richi (CHI) will dominate the race.
