Queen’s Code: Soon Winner if Kept in Cal Bred Ranks

Seven year old gelding for Carla Gaines, off since January of 23, came back to the races on Saturday in a 1st allowance condition for Cal breds at six and a half down the hill for older runners. He came out running from the rail slot under Franko, quickly opened up 2, then was joined by the favorite half way down the hill. He put the chalk away right after the dirt crossover, dug in and found another gear, and then got nailed very late right on the wire to lose by a long neck. He is very lightly raced for a 7 year old as this was just his 12th career start. He’s good enough to knock out this condition, but he would do much better coming out of the chute than down the hill, where his speed would be a bigger factor. Either way, as long as he has sufficient time to recuperate from this race, he’s a soon winner as long as he is kept in the Cal bred ranks.

Generally horses that are on the Horses To Watch list ran into unexpected trouble, bad luck, and/or didn’t run the race we believe Queen’s Code was cabable of.  We expected that if Queen’s Code gets a good trip in their next start than we should see an improvement in Queen’s Code performance figures.  Use the performance figures earned in Queen’s Code last race (listed above) and compare them to the field and pars of Queen’s Code next start.  If Queen’s Code appears to have earned higher performance figures in the last race when running into trouble  as compared to the rest of the field’s expected perfomance in the upcoming race than there is a good chance that Queen’s Code will dominate the race.
