Public Assembly: D’Amato’s Filly Shines in Spectacular Return; Ready for Stakes Competition at Longer Distances

Four year old filly for Phil D’Amato made her 1st start since October and 1st for D’Amato in Sunday’s finale, a 1st allowance condition at 10 furlongs on the lawn for fillies and mares 4 and up. Off at 7/2 in a field of 11 under Fresu, she broke OK and sat fifth for most of the running but was only 3 off the pace and was under a snug hold all the way. Fresu asked her for run at the ¼ pole, was four wide into the lane, and then exploded late with that quick turn of foot to win by a length and a half at the wire in impressive fashion. This was just her fifth career start and Chad Brown had the filly back east. She can step into stakes company right now as long as she has at least 9 furlongs.

Generally horses that are on the Horses To Watch list ran into unexpected trouble, bad luck, and/or didn’t run the race we believe Public Assembly was cabable of.  We expected that if Public Assembly gets a good trip in their next start than we should see an improvement in Public Assembly performance figures.  Use the performance figures earned in Public Assembly last race (listed above) and compare them to the field and pars of Public Assembly next start.  If Public Assembly appears to have earned higher performance figures in the last race when running into trouble  as compared to the rest of the field’s expected perfomance in the upcoming race than there is a good chance that Public Assembly will dominate the race.

Helpful Tip:  So that it’s easy for you to compare a horse’s past performance, Today’s Racing Digest’s Performance Figures for upcoming races are based on how we expect the horse to perform in that race regardless of any changes in race conditions.  Learn More: Â
