Miss McKinzie: Rough Trip But Has Talent Can Improve if J.J. Rides Back

Two year old filly for Peter Miller made her debut on Saturday in a Cal bred maiden special weight event at 5/8 on the main. She broke OK and contested the early lead out of the gate, then got squeezed a bit on the back side, checked pretty badly when the 9 horse cut her off at the 3/8 pole, then got shuffled back to the rear of the pack. She regrouped under J.J. and made a bid at the 1/8 pole and squeezed out a third from a pretty rough trip, beaten three and a half at the wire. She has some talent and she should be able to get her diploma down at Del Mar where Miller always does extra well. Watch for her in start #2 if J.J. rides her back.
