Magnify: Might Be On the Derby Trail This Winter

Three year old colt for Tim Yakteen has a runner in this son of Justify. Making the 3rd start of his career and first for Yakteen, he broke running in this one mile affair for maiden special weights, 3 and up. He dueled from the fence through hot fractions of 22 flat and 45.44 for the half. He was head and head down the back side and you had to think both of the leaders were toast at the ¼ pole, and one of them was. But it wasn’t Magnify who opened up two at the top of the stretch, then found another gear and went on to win by six under hot riding Kimura who won three the day before. With multiple stakes winner Stellar Wind as his mom, and Triple Crown winner Justify as his dad, this one might be on the Derby trail this winter. He is bred for 10 furlongs, has plenty of speed, and can handle pace pressure.

Generally horses that are on the Horses To Watch list ran into unexpected trouble, bad luck, and/or didn’t run the race we believe Magnify was cabable of.  We expected that if Magnify gets a good trip in their next start than we should see an improvement in Magnify performance figures.  Use the performance figures earned in Magnify last race (listed above) and compare them to the field and pars of Magnify next start.  If Magnify appears to have earned higher performance figures in the last race when running into trouble  as compared to the rest of the field’s expected perfomance in the upcoming race than there is a good chance that Magnify will dominate the race.
